Marlene Ann Moding, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Johansen) Johanson was bom on January 25, 1937 in St. Paul, Nebraska. Her childhood years were spent in the Royal, Iowa area where she attended school, graduating from Royal High School in 1955
Marlene married Clair Moding on July 18,1959 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. She worked at the creamery in Sutherland, Iowa, ahead of moving to Spencer, Iowa for several years They then moved to Colorado, before settling in Everly, while working for Feldmans, Hallmark, and J C. Penney.
Marlene enjoyed reading, taking trips with their camper, and baking She was a member of the Everly Library Board, and Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
Marlene passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 77 She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Daryl Johansen; two sisters, Darlene Englert and Jeanine Thomas; one brother-in-law, Don Moding; and two sisters-inlaw Joanne Johansen and Clarice Moding.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clair of Everly, two children: Jeff (Judy Pitts) Moding of Cape Coral, Florida and Barbara (John) Zatloukal of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren Tiffany, Kayla, Jared, and Sonya; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVern Johansen of Peterson, Iowa and James Johansen of Eden, Georgia, one sister, Marjorie (Keith) Mortensen of Royal; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
