- Rose Marie Henderson, 87, of Lake Mills, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, IA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation for Rose will be on Thursday, October 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Rose Marie (Stavnesli) Henderson was born on January 16, 1931 at the home of her parents Helmer and Amanda (Olson) Stavnesli in Manly, Iowa. She attended school in Manly and was involved in many church activities at both Bristol and Silver Lake Lutheran Churches throughout her entire life.
On August 31, 1947 she was united in marriage with Ardell Harlan Henderson in Albert Lea, MN. They were lifelong residents of the Silver Lake and Lake Mills area where they raised their four children. They were married for 45 years when Ardell passed away in 1992.
Rose had worked for Winnebago Industries in Forest City and retired after 23 years in 1994. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and loved her family dearly. If she wasnt spending time with family or helping others, she could be found reading books and doing crossword puzzles. Her flowerbeds and bird feeders were always kept full, and she was a passionate animal lover making furry friends everywhere she went.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathie Lantis of Big Stone City, SD, Ronald (Karen) Henderson of Lake Mills, Randy Henderson and his special friend Robin of Hollandale, MN, and Nancy Peterson and her special friend Tom of Lake Mills; eight grandchildren, Kristina (Josh Kefauver) Lantis of Albuquerque, NM, Eric (Stacy) Lantis of Sartell, MN, Laura Beth Lantis of Big Stone City, SD, Jamie Henderson of Forest City, Barry (Brenda) Henderson, Lindy Henderson and Shannon Peterson all of Lake Mills and Jessica Peterson of Marion, IA; seven great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ardell; a stillborn daughter; brother John Stavnesli; sister-in-law Carmen Kaasa; brother-in-law Paul Henderson; son-in-law Jeff Lantis; and her close friend Ernie Thompson.
