- Suzie Walter Gleason, 70, Harrisburg, S.D., died Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Victoria General Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jasper with Rev. Sue Grinde officiating. Visitation being held two hours prior from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.
Honorary casket bearers were all of Suzie's grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Casket bearers were Craig Gleason, Bob Carr, Robert Weime, Bob Gleason, Gordon Berwald and Curt Walter.
Interment was in the Jasper City Cemetery in Jasper.
Suzanne Marie Gleason was born to John and Nona (Hegstad) Walter on March 27, 1953, in Adrian, Minn. Suzanne grew up on the family farm near Jasper, Minn. After high school, she attended Pipestone Area Vo-Tech receiving a secretarial degree. While attending Southwest State University in Marshall, Minn., she received a degree in Nursing Home Administration. She spent her working career with Good Samaritan Society of Sioux Falls, S.D. where she was in charge of the Nursing Home Management, as a director for both local and regional.
Suzanne married the love of her life, Arnold Gleason on October 3, 1998. They resided on their acreage near Tea, S.D. They were always busy with the tree-moving business and gardening.
After her career with Good Samaritan, she joined Arnold in their tree-moving business. She often said that moving trees was some of the most fun she had ever had. Suzanne enjoyed traveling with Arnold and loved taking pictures to capture those memories. She also appreciated spending time with her family.
Suzanne passed away at the age of 70, on Monday, July 10, 2023 after a fall.
Surviving Suzanne are her husband, Arnold Gleason of Tea, S.D., step children; Bob (Vicky) Gleason of Summit, S.D., Ruthie (Bill) Roth of Lakewood, Colo. and Craig (Holly) Gleason of Eagan, Minn., three grandchildren; her brother, Scott (Marian) Walter of Baltic, S.D.; sister-in-law, Alice (Jerry) Gehring of Oakdale, Minn.; nieces and nephews,Jennifer (Greg) Baker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Angela (Joe) Sieler of Inwood, Iowa, and Allison (Gabe) Loveall of Bagdad, Ariz. and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nona Walter, and one brother, Douglas.
