- Elizabeth "Betty" Maley, daughter of John and Berniece (McCann) Maley was born April 26, 1942, at Rochelle, Ill. As a child, she moved with her family to the Verona area, where she grew up and graduated from Verona High School. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. After college she was employed at Hektner Insurance in Fargo. She was united in marriage to Gary Sandness, March 11, 1967, at Verona. They made their home in the Verona area. She was employed at Lewis Truck Lines in Lisbon and Hird Implement in LaMoure before going to work for Farm Credit Services of Fargo at their LaMoure branch. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Verona.
Betty died April 12, 1996, at her home, having reached the age of 53 years.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; one daughter, Dr. Jodi Sandness; two sons, Jerrod and Corey; a special friend, Shannon Peters; three brothers, John, Robert and Gerald; three sisters, Cookie, Lois and Mary; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Raymond.
