- Gerald Eugene Gunderson,79,of Sioux City ddied Monday,Sept.2,in a Sioux City hospital.Services will be 10a.m.Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel,with Rev.Dr.Allen D.Call of Frist United Methodist Church officiating.Burial in Memorial Paark Cemetery.Mr.Gunderson son of Carl and Lila(Brooks)Gunderson.He attended school in Wynot,Neb.area.He served in the U.S.Navy from March 1943 to Feb.1946,stationed in the South Pacific during World War II.He moved to Sioux City in 1946.He married Betty Louise Haas on Dec.24,1948,in Dakota City,Neb.He was employed with National Foods as a truck driver for 17 years.He later worked for Dean's Fleet service as a truck mechanic until retiring.After retirement,he drove a milk truck.Mrs.Gunderson died Oct.14,2001,in SIoux City.He was a member of Frist United Methodist Church,Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternal Order of Eagles in So.Soo City,Neb.,serving as secretary until a couple of week before his death.As an Eagle,he received the Father of the year Award,twice.Survivors include,a son,Gary;two daughters,Linda Drum of Las vegas,Nev.and Kathy Cruse;two grandsons,Robbie and Naatosha Bottger of Las Vegas,Nev.,and Kirklyn Cruse;a great-grandchild,Alexandra Bottger of Las Vegas,Nev.;five sisters,Ida and Donald Junck,of Mission,TX,Doris and Marvin Shadbolt of Jefferson,S.D.,Joyce and Gary Rhine of Tucson,Arz.,Norma and Melvin Menard of Commerce,Colo.,Karen Stockham;a brother Jim and Rosemary of So.Soo.City,;an Aunt Inez and Lloyd Pederson of Hartington,Neb.;nieces and nephews.perceded in death his wife,his parents,3brothers
