- Diane Johansen, 43, died on Tuesday, March 1,1994, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls,
SD, after an illness of eight months.
Services were held on Saturday afternoon, March 5, 1994, at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN, the Reverend Rollin Haynes officiating. Special music was provided by the Reverend Randy Skow-Anderson.
Pallbearers were Kathy Kepler, Karen Onken, Deanna Swenson, Shirley Hintermeister, Marilyn Udstuen and Alice Henning.
Burial was at Slayton Memorial Gardens in Slayton.
Diane Johansen was born May 10, 1950, at Slayton, MN, the daughter of John and Jeanette Meyer Barents. She grew up in Fulda, MN, and graduated from Fulda High School in 1969.
She and Steve Johansen were married on April 4, 1970, at Immanuel American Lutheran Church, rural Fulda. They lived at Jackson, MN for a short lime, and in New Ulm, MN, for a year before moving to Slayton in 1971.
Diane worked at Swift's in Marshall and later at Pamida in Slayton. She worked for P & K Printing and later operated it. She had been employed at Finley Engineering since August, 1987.
Mrs. Johansen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Slayton, and had been baptized and confirmed at Immanuel American Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association, and had served as its president, and was a member of the Avoca Legion Auxiliary. Bowling, camping, fishing and spending time at their cabin at Lake Shetek were some of her favorite pastimes.
Survivors include her husband, Steve, of Slayton; a son, John, of Slayton; her father, John Barents of Fulda, MN; one brother and his wife, David and Candy Barents of Elk River, MN; and her mother-in law and father-in-law, Freddie and Arlene Johansen of Slayton.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Candice Marie; her mother, Jeanette; and her grandparents.
