Ann Marie attended Belle Fourche High School and lived on her father's Indian Creek ranch. She graduated from Black Hills Teachers College and enjoyed her teaching career at McKinley Elementary School in Casper. Ann Marie was married to James A. Spencer from June 25, 1943 until his death on January 7, 1989. They enjoyed traveling the United States in their Airstream trailer. She was an accomplished soloist and was honored to sing with the Houston Symphony, the Casper Symphony and the municipal band. Her performances could be heard on the radio and often at the Presbyterian Church of Casper as both a choir member and a soloist. She enjoyed travel, genealogy, crafting, knitting and crocheting and oil painting. Ann Marie was a fierce competitor while playing cards and Mexican Train. Family surviving Ann Marie includes: Janice (Doody) and Bob Oss, Colleen (Doody) and Steve Lozeau, Kristine and Barry Hendrickson, Pat and Gloria Long, Dan Long, Ann Marie Johnson and their families; sister-in-law Donna Fondy and loving friend Shirley Volker. A graveside service is set for Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the Nucla Cemetery in Nucla, Colorado. Jack Willis of the Church of Christ, Independence, Missouri will officiate. A visitation will be held in the cemetery from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Matilda Anna Soderstrom Nygren May 9,1922, in Nucla. She lived all her life in Nucla, except approximately one year she spent in California. On April 6, 1939, Anna married Edward Karo in Telluride. They were blessed with seven children. Edward preceded Anna in death on December 13,1990. Anna was a homemaker and a ranchers wife, who raised her children and worked hard growing large gardens and helping with the livestock and irrigation . Anna and Ed were members of the Church of Christ. They attended a little log church that was formerly located where the Nucla Town Park is today Anna was a member of the Second Park Sewing Club. She made lap robes for senior citizens in the west end of Montrose County who were in nursing homes located in Delta. GrandJunction and Montrose. Anna made 2,000 to 3,000 lap robes and also made them for the Nucla-Naturita Fire Department. She enjoyed painting roses on her quilts and also enjoyed fishing. Anna May Karo is survived by her children; Ron Karo and wife, Jodi, and Ken Karo and wife, Joan all of Nucla; Alf Karo of Pensacola, Florida; Norm Karo and wife, Barbara, of Fallon, Nevada; Roy Karo and wife Cathy , of Craig, Colorado; and Sandy Bronson and husband , Richard, of Lees Summit, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. In January 1939, her mother moved her and two sisters to St. George, Utah, where they lived with a grandmother, Lillie May White. On December 1, 1942, her mother married Harvey Ensign Dunton, and moved to Paragonah, Utah. Anna May lived there until her high school graduation from Parowan High School in 1951. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she lived until 1996, when she and her husband moved to Toquerville, Utah. She is survived by her husband, Wilford; six children, Wilford Otto Jr. (Tina), Trenton, UT, Stephen Douglas (Linda), Phoenix, AZ, Merrie Carol Harris (Ralph), LaVerkin, UT, Paul Randall, Salt Lake City, UT, Phillip Thorvald (Kim), Las Vegas, NV, and Rebecca Joy Fulmer (Ron), Salt Lake City, UT. she is also survived by her sister, Audrey Gilger (Basil), Hurricane, UT, a step-sister, Joyce Boyter, Beaver, UT, and a half-brother, David Dunton (Filomena), Wilmington, Delaware. | 700 | Anna Nelson was born in Twanger, Norway, on November 13, 1866. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church there. On November 17, 1892, she was married to Anton Roness. Mrs. Anton Roness and their 5 children came to America in 1909 to join Anton who had homesteaded south of Noonan. The family settled in Border Township and have lived in this community ever since, with the exception of one year, 1920, which they spent in their homeland, Norway. Mrs. and Mrs. Anton Roness left the farm and moved to Noonan in 1926. Mrs. Roness became ill with a heart attack on Friday, October 23, about 4:00 o'clock in the morning and passed away peacefully at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon the same day. She is survived by six children: Gust, Einar, Alice (Mrs. Theodore Carlson), Minneapolis; Axel, Washington; Ragna, (Mrs. Rolf Lindell), California; and Arthur. She has been preceded in death by her husband, Anton Roness who died in 1931, and two children who died in infancy. Blessed be her memory.
