- Marie Wutterdahle was born in Wutterdahle, Norway. (It was the custom in Norway for all residents of a village to have the name of the village as a last name). Marie came to the United States at age twenty to "pick up the gold" from the American streets. Rumor was wide-spread that this was all one needed to do to become rich. She arrived in Bemidji, Minnesota to fulfill her dream, based on theoft repeated rumor, so that she might collect enought gold to return home and live in comfort.
Marie married Peter Easman and they came to Klamath County in 1926. They built a home at 346 Pacific and also lived at 3306 Bisbee Street.
After arriving in Klamath Falls, they first lived in a house by the Herald and News and the Pelican Hotel. Peter worked for many years at Ewauna Lumber. He served as a Deacon and Lay-minister for the First Convenant Church in Klamath Falls. He was also a busy father with children to feed and clothe, council, encourage, guide and educate. Margaret died at age ten in 1934. The family consisted of Martha Laura and the following children born in Klamath Falls; Richard Peter 1926, Alice Lorraine 1928, Robert Olaf 1929, Carol Edna 1933, John Edward 1935, Elsie Marie 1938 and Donald Edwin 1941.

Marie Eastman, 85, died Monday, Dec. 12, 1983 in Medford, Ore. She is survived by sons, Richard, Tulelake, Calif., Robert, Medford, Ore., John Sacramento, Calif., Donald, Medford, Ore., daughters, Martha Dwight, Taiwan, Alice Rhodus, Smith River, Calif., Carol Keesee Eagle Point, Ore., Elise Howell, Klamath Falls, Ore.; 24 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother, Lars Olson, Wutterdahl, Norway.
