- Carmen Marie Martindale, 94, of Hill City, formerly of Keewatin, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at her assisted living residence in Hill City. She was born on Oct. 2, 1916, in Keewatin to Tony and Antonia Molea.
She worked as a waitress at the Androy Hotel in Hibbing and later at the Keewatin Public Library. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, and the Keewatin Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, playing bingo, playing cards and going to the casino.
Carmen is survived by her sons: Theodore Champlin, and James (Denise) Martindale; sister, Rose Gerandt; grandchildren: Matthew and Nicholas Martindale; step-grandchildren: Kimberly Derby and Jerri Johnson; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews: Edward Sutton, Kenneth Sutton, Kay Sutton, Roberta Royal, Patty Johnson, Roger Champlin, Sandy Gerandt, Bobby Gerandt and Larry Gerandt.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husbands: Leo Champlin and Norman Martindale; her parents; brothers Tony and Frank Molea; a sister, Jane Sutton; and a sister, Mary Champlin.
Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing
