    • Clifford Lund, 80, a Williston resident, formerly of Stady and Minot, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 14, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston.

His funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Lutheran Brethren Church in Williston. Rev. Sandra Anderson will officiate and interment will follow in Grenora Cemetery.

Clifford Leonard Lund was born March 24th, 1930 to Martin and Rachel (Haugen) Lund. He was born and raised on the family farm in Stady, North Dakota. After graduating High School he attended the Minot Teacher’s College. Cliff enlisted into the U.S. Navy for a one year enlistment and served on the USS Diphda AKA-59. After becoming Honorably Discharged from the active force, placed on reserves, he became an elementary school teacher for two years. He was later recalled back into active duty, assigned as a radio operator on the USS Jason ARH-1 during the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal and the Korea Service Ribbon (1 Star). Upon his return from the Navy, Clifford returned to Minot State College to continue his studies towards his Bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1962, Clifford met and married the love of his life, Gloria Rieniets Dymoke, and took on her son Mark "Todd" as his own. Clifford and Gloria were blessed with four more children. They resided in Minot, ND and raised the children together until early 1974 when the marriage was ended. Clifford spent his life looking after his kids and making a life for them.

Clifford worked for Westland Oil and then became an independent insurance salesman until he had a stroke in 1990. Following the stroke Clifford resided with his children and then moved into the Kensington. In 2007 due to failing health, he moved to Bethel Lutheran Home.

Clifford spent his life enjoying family and friends. It was hard to find Clifford not telling a story about the good old days and enjoying a laugh over a cup of coffee. His stroke in 1990 took away his ability to speak. Nothing was more frustrating for him than his inability to visit with friends or family.

Clifford is survived by his daughter, Kari (Lund) Borseth and husband Pete of Williston; sons, Brett of Williston, Scott and wife Alisa of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Jon and wife Sarah of Dickinson; fourteen grandchildren, Mark, Chantell, Erica, Drew, Dylan, Maggie, Hannah, Emily, Heather, Braden, Noah, Evan, Jace, and Aden; three great grandchildren, Braedon, Ashlynn, and Landon; sisters, Edna "Mickey" (James) Larsen of Geraldine, Mont., and Gladys Barrington of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; one brother, Lloyd of Richland, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mark "Todd", his parents, brothers Edwin, Arthur, Herbert and Arnold, sisters Marion Haugen and an infant sister.
